Introduction

IARC was established as a university-level research institute at the University of Bucharest (UNIBUC) in 2016, in response to the growing need for international arbitration law thought leadership and capacity building in the Eastern-Europe region.

IARC’s focus areas of research and training are international commercial arbitration and policy, investment law and policy, international dispute resolution, and space law and policy.

IARC works closely with its partner organisations in Romania: the UNIBUC Law Faculty, the Centre for European Legal Studies of the Romanian Academy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania and the Central University Library “Carol I”. IARC also collaborates with the European Commission, University of Liverpool, Energy Charter, Universita Commerciale ‘Luigi Bocconi’.

    Our Purpose

The mission of IARC-UB is to enable Romania and the Easten-Europe region to play a more significant role in the promotion and development of international arbitration law. IARC’s vision is to become a regional intellectual hub and thought leader for research on and teaching of international arbitration law.
